Why does the province feel the need to have absolute authority over bike lanes? This very clearly feels like a municipality level issue. This is adding a lot of red tape and oversight for something that isn't, in most cases, a big decision.

I drive to work in downtown Toronto everyday in a car, and this bill is possibly the most ill-thought through thing the province has tried to do lately. Bike lanes allow me, a car driver, to get to work faster because I am separated from the bikes. Read more

This is a profoundly stupid idea—there have been numerous studies indicating that bike lanes do not cause traffic and even if they did, if people can no longer ride bikes, they will take cars and therefore add more to the traffic and gridlock. Read more

I think bike lanes are extremely important for Toronto because: 1. Bike lanes are good for business 2. They’re good for the environment!! 3. They’re good for public and personal health 4. They give us freedom and mobility 5. Bike lanes save lives!!

Does not surprise some Canadians that we are the fourth most car dependent country in the world and we are trying to get to the top. That is a backward proposal coming from a regressive old minded government putting those who cannot afford and maintain a motorized vehicle. Read more

So confused at leadership in the province. What possible purpose could removing bike lanes serve? What province is this? More like, whose province? No longer for the people in any way shape or form. Read more

This is absolutely egregious. The government is willing to throw money at bike lanes but not healthcare? How did you even get voted in? You are not the mayor of Toronto.

This has to be the stupidest notion I’ve come across in a long time. Even a casual reading of the research shows that bike lanes generally do not affect congestion. So the whole premise is simply bonkers. See article below. Read more

Removing the bike lanes will not ease traffic. There are no bike lanes on the 401 the DVP or any other highway in Toronto and traffic on those roads is worse than ever. Read more

Bike lanes help me travel the city safely. Without them, I fear my future of riding of riding to work. This is truly regressive and will NOT reduce gridlock. But you all know that.

Bike lanes are proven to reduce congestion: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7358319. The provincial government is overstepping it's jurisdiction and meddling in affairs it doesn't understand. Read more

The removal of bike lanes will not impact gridlock. Please reconsider this action and do not remove this fundamental shared space that is used by numerous folks to commute to work safely.

This bill doesn't make any sense. Having separate lanes ensures safety on both cars and bikes, and allows for cars to move at car speeds. Forcing cyclists to use a car lane due to lack of back lane means cars will need to accommodate bikes IN THEIR LANE. Also a waste of $

This bill is a huge overreach of provincial powers. Municipalities should be able to install bike lanes where they see fit, not at the discretion of people who don’t even live in that city.

Removing bike lanes will not reduce gridlock. Many people rely on these lanes to commute to work. The only way to reduce car traffic is to offer alternatives to driving. Read more

This is adding a layer of bureaucracy for no purpose except to make change harder. If a city wants to put in a bike lane, it should be their decision to do so, why not ask Trudeau if we can have a bike lane too? Make all levels of government get involved! (This is sarcasm)

There is enough data today to proof that more lanes for car won't solve any traffic. Only lane for public transportation and bike lanes solves traffic. This proposal is pure based on a car driver biases, no data to support it. Read more

This bill is an affront to the public. First it is expanding the power of the provincial government into what should be the authority of municipalities. Second it's increasing the red tape for sorely needed infrastructure all over the province. Read more
