This bill, by bypassing assessment processes, entirely disregards indigenous archaeological sites. It reinforces colonial dynamics and is bound to cause serious controversies that ignite even more costly and timely issues that “delay” development processes.

I believe the passing of bill 5 will allow for the abuse of forgoing the proper archeological assessment of various sites. Taking proper process to protect the heritage and history of sites is greatly important, and as such I oppose bill 5 vehemently.

Bill-5 seems short-sighted. It does not take into account the potential long-term harm that can be done, including the destruction of farmlands, which is what many proposed infrastructure projects will end up repurposing. Read more

I am against this proposal. There is NO good reason that any project should be exempted from a full heritage assessment, especially where indigenous heritage is concerned. Ignoring indigenous heritage, and archaelogical assessments would spit in the face of reconciliation. Read more
