This application is for an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) for a Waste Disposal Site – Composting for Pefferlaw Peat Products Inc. (Pefferlaw). The application is for the municipal leaf and yard waste composting operations. The Site area is approximately 10.6 hectares and is located on the Northeast section of Pefferlaw’s 21265 Side Road 17, Cannington, Ontario property.

The site will serve may of Ontario, only accepting municipal leaf and yard waste as feedstock. The site proposes the feedstock receipt, feedstock storage, shredding, screening, feedstock composting and compost curing and compost storage. The site is proposing a phased approach for their site capacity, with a maximum site capacity of 100,000 metric tonnes of leaf and yard waste per year, with a maximum receipt rate of 1,500 metric tonnes of municipal leaf and yard waste per day. The maximum storage of 37,500 metric tonnes of municipal leaf and yard waste and compost. The proposed operating hours for waste feedstock drop-off are Monday through Friday from 6AM to 7PM and Saturday from 6AM to 5PM.
