Proposal details

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (industrial sewage) for GROUPE CRH CANADA INC./CRH CANADA GROUP INC. This application is for the collection, transmission, treatment, and disposal of wash water from a new aggregate washing plant.

The washing operations will use a recirculating aggregate washing system where the water, after washing, is recirculated through a settling pond system to remove the native fine grain soils (fine sand, silt, and clay) and water is then reused in the process. The aggregate wash water is drawn from a constructed recirculation cell through a floating intake. The water is pumped through the wash plant where it is used to remove native fine grain soils from the coarse aggregate. The slurry (water and soil) is then allowed to settle within the constructed settling cell(s) before the water is discharged back to the recirculation cell.

There are no off-Site discharges associated with the proposed works. Site-wide routine groundwater quality monitoring is completed in accordance with the Aggregate Resource Act (ARA) Site Plan requirements.
