Proposal details

This proposal is for an amendment to an existing Environmental Compliance Approval No. 1431-BTWRCL, issued on October 22, 2020, for 102 Main Street, Bloomfield.

The purpose of the amendment application is to request a change from the previously approved Norweco Modulair CR-90 treatment plant treating wastewater from the commercial facility at 106 Main Street with five Ecoflo Biofilter treatment units. It is also requested a decrease in the theoretical daily design sewage flow attributed to the commercial facility from 18,450 liters per day to 13,000 liters per day based on historical flow data. It is proposed a new Class 4 Sewage System to service a newly constructed three bedroom cottage located at 102 Main Street and an extension of the five year construction time frame.

The owners of the lands at 102 Main Street (Ian Laurie & Kirsten Musgrove) have agreed to a transfer easement to construct, maintain, operate, repair, and upgrade a septic system for the treatment of sewage from 106 Main Street, Bloomfield, Ontario. The site currently operates under the authority of an Environmental Compliance Approval number 1431-BTWRCL issued on October 22, 2020 to Ian Jonathan Laurie with a rated capacity of 19,525 liters per day. Based on historical flow data we are requesting a decrease from 19,525 liters per day to 16,475 liters per day.

Wastewater Treatment System 1 - The three bedroom house located at 102 Main Street will continue to be serviced by an existing class 4 treatment system (septic tank and leaching bed).

Wastewater Treatment System 2 – Servicing the Commercial Facility at 106 Main Street. The current ECA lists a proposed Norweco Modulair CR-50 treatment plant. It is proposed to replace the Norweco CR-50 treatment unit with five Ecoflo® Biofilter treatment units.

Wastewater Treatment System 3 – New Class 4 sewage system consisting of a septic tank, pump chamber and raised filter bed to service a three bedroom cottage located at 102 Main Street.
