Waste Management of Canada Corporation - Environmental Compliance Approval (waste)

Waste Management of Canada Corporation (WM) owns and operates a transfer station at 117 Wentworth Court, Brampton, Ontario. The Site has operated as a Waste Processing and Transfer Facility since mid 2003, currently under Environmental Compliance Approval No. A-500-7188435332. The Site is approved for the processing and transfer of solid, non-hazardous industrial, commercial, institutional and municipal residential waste and services the City of Toronto, Region of Halton and Peel, Dufferin County, Simcoe County and the Region of York.

WM is seeking approval through an ECA Amendment application to store (park) up to thirty collection trucks and three trailers containing untreated biomedical waste for twenty-four hours (for trucks) to seventy-two hours (for trailers) prior to transfer for processing at the Stericycle Deerhurst facility (ECA No. A680324, issued on January 14, 2024).

All vehicles carrying biomedical waste shall be operated and maintained in strict compliance with all vehicle standards described in Guideline C-4: The management of Biomedical Waste in Ontario, published March 31, 2016 and as updated from time to time.

The WM Wentworth facility operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week which will remain unchanged. The site shall not receive any waste unless a trained person is present.
