Proposal details
This proposal is for a new Renewable Energy Approval for Oxford County’s proposed 250-kilowatts biogas facility at the existing Woodstock Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the City of Woodstock. The Woodstock WWTP is owned and operated by Oxford County.
Presently, the WWTP collects biogas generated by anaerobic digesters, using a portion of the biogas to provide heat for the facilities and the process (with natural gas used as a makeup energy source), and wasting the remaining biogas in a waste gas burner.
The proposed project involves:
- installing a combined heat and power system to utilize the biogas already generated at the WWTP to offset more of the natural gas usage and generate electricity that will be utilized at the WWTP
- installing a new high voltage grounding transformer
- no modification to the existing operation of the WWTP
