We issued a new Environmental Compliance Approval for subsurface disposal works to service a cottage at 941 Ninth Street, Belwood Lake in the Township of Centre Wellington.

We issued a new Environmental Compliance Approval (air) for Syncoat Chemicals (2017) Ltd., a facility that produces specialty rust-preventative coating products and industrial cleaning agents, located in Brantford, Ontario.

Pursuant to Section 53 of the Planning Act, provisional consent was granted on June 28, 2021 in respect of Application 58-C-184016 for the creation of one new resource-based recreational lot in respect of land described as PIN 62319-0364 and PIN 62319-0090 in the Unincorporated Township of Dawson Road Lots, District of Thunder Bay.

The Director of Exploration has made a decision on the exploration permit application PR-21-000159 to Great Lakes Nickel Limited for early exploration activities approximately 42 kilometres southeast of Gogama, Ontario, in MacMurchy Township, District of Sudbury, Northeast region.

The Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines released a discussion paper for public consultation to help the ministry develop Ontario’s first-ever critical minerals strategy.

We will be establishing a public registry for licences of occupation under the Mining Act. The public will be able to easily access this new registry through the Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS).

The Mining Act was amended to enable regulations to establish a “permit by rule” model, allowing claim holders to sell the end product of a bulk sample and retain proceeds, provided that certain conditions are met.  There are no anticipated environmental impacts associated with this decision.

We made 28 natural gas projects eligible for funding under Phase 2 of the NGEP. 26 projects will connect customers and on-reserve communities across Ontario. 2 economic development projects will help businesses create jobs. The government also included requirements for utilities that receive funds.

The Minister has issued a permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to the Regional Municipality of Halton for activities in Burlington that may impact Silver Shiner. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects, actions to benefit the species, as well as monitoring and reporting requirements.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval No. 6031-C3KNLX was issued for subsurface sewage disposal works, servicing the existing campground located at 1361 McGillivray Road, Town of Bancroft, Ontario.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval No. 0099-C3DRU6 was issued for subsurface sewage disposal works, servicing the existing campground located at 6344 Line 86, West Montrose, in the Township of Woolwich.

An amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 2091-9NUNM9 with Limited Operational Flexibility has been granted to Mylan Pharmaceuticals ULC, a pharmaceuticals quality assurance/quality control facility located in the City of Toronto, Ontario.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval was granted for the establishment of an oil and grit separator and existing storm sewers to serve the Villas of Lake Muskoka resort, located in the Township of Muskoka Lakes, District Municipality of Muskoka.

We have granted an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 2382-AAZM7A for Quantum Lifecycle Partners GP Inc., an electronic waste processing facility located in the City of Barrie, County of Simcoe, Ontario.

A new Permit to Take Water No. 0423-C3NKHG has been issued to Caivan (Renaud) Inc. on June 25, 2021 for the temporary dewatering for the construction of a proposed residential development located in Ottawa, Ontario. The new Permit to Take Water has an expiry date of June 25, 2025.

OMAFRA has made a new Minister’s Regulation under the Drainage Act.  This will implement the amendments to the Drainage Act that were included in Schedule 4 of the COVID Economic Recovery Act, 2020.  It will address stakeholder concerns and reduce burden while maintaining environmental protections.

The site plan amendment request by J.C. Rock Ltd., seeking approval for amendments to stockpiles and berms identified on the site plan, for the Laxton Quarry in the City of Kawartha Lakes has been approved.
