Major Site Plan Amendment under the Aggregate Resources Act - Licence #5738 for University of Guelph was granted on June 19, 2019 to amend the current site plan which was to increase the size of the existing extraction area by 6.8 hectares within the already licensed boundary on the lands.
Effects of consultation
No comments were received in response to the Environmental Registry posting. Two written comments were received as a result of the Aggregate Resources Act consultation process. One indicated no concerns while the other raised concerns related to significant wildlife habitat, significant woodlands and the proposed rehabilitation. Issues were addressed through meetings and correspondence with the applicant, as well as through revisions to the site plans.

Description of instrument
Application has been made by the University of Guelph to amend the current site plan to increase the size of the existing extraction area by 6.8 hectares. The currently licenced area is 188.6 hectares in size with an existing extraction area of 97 ha. The additional 6.8 hectare extraction area is proposed to be located within Phase 2 of the licenced area.

Dufferin Aggregates, a division of CRH Canada Group Inc. currently operates this site, the Mill Creek Pit, on behalf of The University of Guelph under the authority of Licence Number 5738 under the Aggregate Resources Act.
Site plan information is available to view at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) Guelph district office. Making an appointment to view the information is recommended to ensure aggregate staff will be available to provide information and answer questions.
