Original proposal
Proposal details
Description of instrument
This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (Industrial Sewage) for the Danford Granite Quarry located on part of Lot 1, Concession 11, in the geographic Township of Elzevir, Municipality of Tweed, County of Hastings.
Stormwater runoff and groundwater seepages in the confines of the quarry are directed to the quarry sump. The water in the quarry sump is proposed to be pumped manually using a submersible pump as-needed to the low-lying area west of the site. Pumping is expected to be intermittent and will only occur during high demand periods (i.e. discharge is expected to be somewhat seasonal and not on a daily basis).
The site also includes an aggregates wash plant. The sediment-laden water from the wash plant is pumped to a settling pond (for treatment), and then is returned by gravity to the source pond (source of water to the wash plant). The Ministry may require effluent and/or groundwater monitoring.
