I am supportive of the goals of protecting our water supply and of protecting farm land.

However, there are three things I would like to see if the Greenbelt is extended.

1.  More emphasis .

WE welcome that the proposal to expand the Greenbelt and add on the area of the Bluebelt  We live in Tyendinaga Township which has experienced a 3.5 % growth from 2011 to 2016 according to Stats Canada.  Our growth is much higher than the rest of Hastings County.  I believe that is

In 2014 Ontario’s auditor general reminded us that Ontario's source water protection efforts only protected Ontarians on municipal water supplies, and called for a speedier application of the Walkerton recommendations.

Overall I support the proposed expansion of the Greenbelt, in particular with the westward expansion to include the Galt/Paris and Waterloo moraines, with which I am most familiar.

Ontario farmers have a long history of practicing sustainable stewardship and protecting our ecosystems. Farmers conserve land and preserve soil, while growing safe and affordable food for us all.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the Ontario government’s proposal to expand the existing Greenbelt with a Bluebelt to better protect our province’s water resources. As a supporter of the Food & Water First campaign, I endorse this plan. Food and water are the necessities of life.
