I work in the forest industry as an Accountant. The forest industry is one of the only truly environmentally sustainable renewable industries, and it would be a travesty if decisions were made without industry input, as we support sustainable forest management practices.

I was informed in an e-mail from Greenpeace that the Ontario government wants to exempt the logging industry from the Endangered Species Act until 2020. I think this is completely wrong, and that no industry should be exempt from adhering to legislation which protects Ontario's natural heritage.

Exemptions that give industry special allowance to proceed in forest operations despite harm to species at risk, and their habitat, should not be in place.
This undercuts the purpose of the Species At Risk Act, and makes a mockery of our commitment to protecting vulnerable wildlife.
