Protecting Caribou habitat is important for the future of our province. The forests that caribou inhabit provide vital food and shelter for these animals. These forests also provide a carbon sink which helps lower the accumulation of Carbon Dioxide in our atmosphere. Read more

I am writing to request that you make caribou protection a priority! As a nomadic species, they require vast tracts of intact boreal forest in order to survive. Giving the logging industry an exemption until at least 2020 from the Endangered Species Risk Act is unconscionable. Read more

I support the extension to maintain sustainable forest management practices to balance existing environmental, social and economic objectives. It should be five years instead of two to make sure that the panel can work through the very complex issues associated with sustainable forest management. Read more

Ontario wants to exempt the logging industry from Ontario’s Endangered Species at Risk Act until at least 2020. If these exemptions are approved, the already threatened caribou is at risk of losing the vast expanses of forest they need to survive. Read more

No way should the forest industry get privileged conditions. They are the main cause of the caribou loss of habitat. [Original Comment ID: 212584]

We as CANADIANS love our air, water and land. We want them all to stay fresh and clean. We want our animals to have homes where they can roam freely. There are many species of animals that are becoming or are extinct. Let's not let that happen here in CANADA. [Original Comment ID: 212585]

It is unacceptable to exempt the logging industry from rules that protect the caribou and the boreal forest. Not really sure what other entity would cause more damage to the forest and endangered species. Surely this benefits nobody except the logging companies. [Original Comment ID: 212586]

I strongly urge you to protect woodland caribou and their habitat. The forestry industry does not need any more land if they are operating sustainably. The woodland caribou need old growth forests to survive, so I urge you to protect their habitat. Read more

The point of having an Endangered Species at Risk Act is to protect species at risk. Exempting the forest industry until 2020 does NOT do this. Get with the program. Protect our caribou! [Original Comment ID: 212589]

The caribou need to be protected so their herds can build up again. Cutting down all our trees will prevent the caribou from recovering. These companies who make their money by using our natural resources should be held responsible for all the damage they do. Read more

Exempting the forestry and logging industries from the Endangered Species protection is giving them a licence to destroy. They will no longer take any precautions. Only Kathleen Wynne would be so rapacious in search of a re-election. Read more
