I am wholeheartedly opposed to the cancellation of cap and trade. The consensus of opinion among climate experts, economists etc. is that in order to decarbonize, the best first step is to price carbon. We do not have time to back peddle on this. The time for bold action on climate change is now. Read more

For the sake of all people in Ontario we need to act swiftly to curb climate change. Keep cap and trade in place while developing even more efficient ways to do this. We have a collective responsibility to pass on a liveable world to our grandkids.

I would like to see Ontario rejoin the cap and trade emissions program with the Western Climate Initiative, putting a price on carbon emissions in line with the Framework and continuing to work with the federal government to meet Canada's obligations in the Paris Agreement. Read more

It is time for the Ontario Conservative government to start caring about not only the present generation's well being but also that of future generations. Reversing all the environmental initiatives put in place by the previous Liberal government is not the way to achieve this goal. Read more

I find it odd that conservative government always rejects environmental reform in favour of the economy, especially when the economy could greatly benefit from a new green industry boom. Why be the premier who delayed that boom and instead be the voice of the future, prosperous Canada.

The cap and trade cancellation act ends the cap and trade program. It discusses how a new program will be developed to deal with climate change. However it does not set a timeline or any any type of measurable for the new program. That is not acceptable. A plan must be a priority of the government. Read more
