I believe the cap and trade system represents an effective market-driven solution to reduce green house gas emissions. It strikes me as reckless and irresponsible to scrap this system without first proposing a detailed alternative.

Please reference the latest release from the UN anout climate change. Removing the cap and trade policy is the most backward thing we could do as province in the fight against this massive issue.

There is overwhelming evidence that we need to limit our carbon emissions. In addition to our legacy as a species on this planet, we have our children and future generations to worry about. I am extremely concerned that the current Ontario government does not have a plan in place.

Steps backward like Bill 4 are particularly frustrating for those of us in the Environmental Sector. We all know that the only way to create a sense of responsibility is to punish and reward, whatever the issue might be.

Implementation of Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, is a decision that will affect the lives of Canadians in the current and future generations through its implication on climate change mitigation.

Bill 4 absolutely should not be passed in light of the current climate crisis. While not perfect, the Cap and Trade Program is one of the first steps for Canada towards meeting its emission reduction targets for the Paris Agreement and a safer climate.

In light of the recent UN report calling for significant action on lowering our carbon footprint, I appeal to the Government of Ontario to use common sense and continue the cap and trade program.

Climate impacts are undeniable, severe and increasing. Earlier this week, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued its most dire warning to date, saying that the world has just a few years to change course and prevent catastrophic and irreversible climate impacts.

We are in an environmental crisis time. Bill 4 only deals with the keeping of a political promise, not with the reality of climate change and needed action. It does nothing to encourage the greening of industry and the industry that can be built upon green alternatives.

Climate change is a the #1 crisis in the world today. It is the biggest threat to the sustainability of our planet and the lives of people in Ontario, Canada, North America, and globally.

The further Ford takes us backwards only makes it more difficult and costly, taxpayer's dollars, to move us forward once he is gone. Which will be in four years or sooner.
Summary
Bill 4 fails to match the urgency of the climate crisis and represents a major step backward in the fight against climate change.
It is unfair and unreasonable to eliminate the province’s only climate plan without being transparent with the public about the plan to replace it.

I strongly disagree with the repeal of the 'Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016'. I believe that placing a price on carbon emissions is an effective way to combat greenhouse gas emissions. Shutting down the existing system is an enormous waste of tax revenue.

I strongly reject bill 4, and believe that a pollution pricing program is the best way forward for Ontario. It is vital in honouring Canada’s international climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.

This is idiotic, simply put. Please don't make this term something that is only fit to be undone by whoever holds office next. This is a bill that essentially just sets Ontario back several years policy wise.
-Concerned Citizen
Please reconsider Bill 4. Climate change is an urgent issue, and we all stand to lose by any policy that takes a step backward in the fight against it.

I am in full agreement with the submission by the Green Party of Ontario - posted Oct. 11, 2018, and signed by Jaymini Bhikha.
So many millions of words have been written about the looming climate change catastrophe that there is really very little I can add.
