I would like to appeal to the Ministry to create a water management process that considers groundwater as part of freshwater systems connected to rivers, lakes and wetlands, all with intricate ecological purposes, and not simply as a quantity of water supply for human needs.

I support the extension of the moratorium. In Centre Wellington we do not have enough water to support the projected growth. We should not have to compete for water with a private company. The public’s need for water comes first.
Policy must prioritize water uses, putting the needs of ecosystems, agriculture, growing municipalities and strong local economies above commercial water bottling – an industry that is not only fundamentally harmful to the environment but is for the most part unrequired.

We need to protect and preserve our groundwater supply for future generations. Allowing Nestlé to drain aquifers on First Nations land is shortsighted and profit driven but will cost us dearly in the future. Please stop the draining of our aquifers.
I support the extension of this moratorium. It is foolish to squander our precious freshwater resources in the name of (minor) short term profit. Granting permits to bottled water companies directly contradicts the precautionary principle.
