Several tenets of the open for business planning tool are deeply concerning to me:
• Allow public consultation at the discretion of the municipality, while requiring public notice after the by-law is passed (at a minimum);

As with Bill 66, removing restrictions for planning and development will endanger head waters leading to Lake Ontario and private sources of drinking water and the removal of any of the green spaces in the Green Belt is a massive step backwards.

Allowing the Municipality to by-pass provincial/federal/planning policies without public consultation, while streamlining the process in order to attract investment in the municipality, is fool-hardy at best.

This open-for-business planning tool sounds like a really bad idea. As a member of a municipal planning advisory committee, I know how important official plans & zoning, site plan control, and adherence to provincial policies are in managing & controlling development.
