Ontario needs to increase protections for endangered species, not erode these protections in favour of "economic development." Our economy, along with our environment, won't last more than a few more generations if we don't toughen up protections, protect habitats, and sharply reduce pollution.

It is absolutely imperative that the existing protections be strengthened. Creeping urbanization, pollution and climate change are all having a massive effect on these animals and we need to respond in a more robust way to protect them for future generations.

we need decisions based on impartial science and data not results funded by special interest groups and a mechanism for government to question or override bias findings. there also needs to be more one on one talks with resourse user groups ie. trappers- hunters-farmers before decisions are made.

The endangered species act is critical legislation in protecting the biodiversity and environmental integrity of Ontario. The main issue with this legislation is the undermining aspect of how the constitution would trump all decision making in regards to species at risk. Read more

Habitat fragmentation and isolation is considered one of the major drivers of species endangerment and extinction. Without continuity between habitats, habitats will shrink in size and become more environmentally and biologically homogenized. Read more
