If the federal requirements were identical there would not be an additional burden in following the provincial toxic reductions act. However the provincial act requires more planning and puts a greater burden of responsibility on the industry, which is where it belongs.

This bill removes useful safeguards for Ontarians and their environment. The regulations are not the same as federal ones do this action markedly reduces the protection that previous legislation provided.

Do not repeal this act - for the sake of the businesses themselves, new science insights and techniques are continuously developing. Without review old processes [less effective and often more expensive] would remain simply through inertia. Review is money well spent.

I find it inconceivable that in a time when environmental protection has never been more important for the health of our community and planet that a Bill such as Bill 66 could be proposed. Now more than ever we need our greenspaces to protect our air and water quality. Read more
