Description of Instrument

Lac des Iles Mines Limited have submitted a Mine Closure Plan for filing by the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines as required under the Mining Act.

The following are the major components of this Closure Plan as proposed by Lac des Iles Mines Limited:

Additions

  • Additional mining claims that will be brought to lease for inclusion within the Closure Plan Boundary. The land will be used for future development of a Tailings Management Facility (TMF) and Water Management Facility (WMF)
  • Updated plans for dam raises associated with South and East TMFs known as the ‘Hybrid Plan’
  • A proposed portal from surface near the secondary crusher to provide alternate ramp access to underground
  • A raise at surface west of the Roby open pit
  • A compressor building to be located near the headframe
  • A propane energy system to be converted to natural gas
  • A new dry and sanitary building, approximately 42.7m x 18.3m in size
  • A new recreation hall near the current camp facilities, approximately 24.4 x 18.3m size
  • Two new modular bunkhouses at the operations camps
  • Approximately 52 sea-cans to be used for storage
  • Installation of a new septic field for the operations camp per ECA No. 8982-AAFJB6, to replace the old septic system
  • Requirement for additional propane/hydro needs for site personnel during close-out
  • Proposed new open pit (currently under economic assessment) located southwest of the existing Roby Pit and currently denoted as the “Southwest Pit’
  • Updated mining plan for remnant material associated with Roby Pit
  • Update alignment of berm/boulder fence around pit area to encompass potential areas of ground instability

Removals

  • Upper portal in east wall of Roby Pit will be abandoned due to potential wall instability
  • Bunkhouses C12 and C13
  • Old Administrative (Office) Building
  • Former Operations Camp Septic System
  • ‘Roby Pushback’ plans for remnant mining of the Roby Pit
