Description of Instrument
Goldcorp Canada Ltd. has submitted a Mine Closure Plan for filing by the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines as required under the Mining Act. This Closure Plan proposes rehabilitation measures to be implemented upon the eventual closure of Goldcorp Canada Ltd.'s Dome Mine site. The rehabilitation work to be conducted will include:
- securing all mine openings for long term safety
- removal of surface buildings and associated surface infrastructure
- backfilling of the mine water sedimentation ponds
- removal of any contaminated soil
- ensuring the long-term physical and chemical stability of waste rock stockpiles
- ensuring the long-term physical and chemical stability of tailings facilities
- ensuring the long-term stability of the underground workings
- contouring and revegetation of disturbed areas of the site, including site access roads
- physical stability monitoring of the site
- chemical stability monitoring of the site
The following are the major components of this Closure Plan Amendment as proposed by Goldcorp CanadaLtd.
- Closure of the Dome underground operations
- Processing of Borden bulk sample and ore at the Dome Mill
- Raising the No. 6 Tailings Management Area (TMA) dam
- Construction of 100A ramp bulkhead with heater
- Construction of waste to ore processing Plants (permanent Demo Plant and temporary Pilot Plant)
- Construction of mill storage area (Quonset Hut)
- Separation of the Dome and Paymaster Properties into two closure plan
