Decision details
Cedar Creek Provincial Park Management Plan
We have approved a park management plan for Cedar Creek Provincial Park. This plan:
- establishes the purpose, objectives and vision for the park
- describes the park’s natural, cultural and recreational resources
- addresses park classification, the park boundary, and how areas of the park are differentiated through zoning
- establishes park policies related to resource management, recreation management, operations and development
About the park
Cedar Creek Provincial Park is in Essex County, 35 kilometres southeast of Windsor. This 70-hectare nature reserve class park is one of several properties protected as part of the Ontario Parks Legacy 2000 partnership between Ontario Parks and the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), and through local community-based efforts of the Essex Region Conservation Authority and others. The park was regulated under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 in 2014.
Cedar Creek Provincial Park protects important earth and life science features such as:
- portions of the Cedar Creek Life Science Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI)
- important riparian wetland complexes
- diverse Carolinian Life Zone communities
- provincially rare species
- Species at Risk habitat
It also offers opportunities for day-use recreational activities, such as hiking.
