We have accepted an amendment to the Aquarius Site closure plan. This notice is for your information. The Environmental Bill of Rights does not require this notice to be placed on the Environmental Registry, however, section 6 of the Act does allow the Environmental Registry to be used to share information about the environment with the public

Why consultation isn't required

Consultation on this file is not required. The proponent is not proposing development at the site neither are there any proposals that are anticipated to have major environmental impacts.

Bulletin details

The Aquarius Site is located in German, Macklem and Bond townships. Just east of Night Hawk Lake and immediately south of Highway 101, some 40 kilometres east of Timmins, Ontario. Access to the project site is via gravel road located off Highway 101 immediately west of Municipal Road 67. UTM 5375000 North and 510800 East (NAD 27, Zone 17).

St. Andrew Goldfields Ltd.has submitted an amended Closure Plan as required under the Mining Act. This amendment provides updated financial assurance for the rehabilitation for the current state of facilities at the project site.

The following are the major components of this amendment to the Closure Plan as proposed by St. Andrew Goldfields Ltd. :

  • New letter of transmittal and updated certification
  • Updated closure cost estimates
  • Provision of additional financial assurance to close out the site in its current state as there are currently no plans to further develop the site.
  • Highlights on progressive rehabilitation to date

A commitment to provide a new certified amended Closure Plan for any new construction or development of the project in the event the project is reactivated.
