Newmont Porcupine has submitted a Mine Closure Plan Amendment for filing by the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines as required under the Mining Act.

Why consultation isn't required

This Closure Plan Amendment proposes rehabilitation measures for the Aunor A Tailings Management Area. Improvements to the site as a result of the completed and proposed rehabilitation activities are expected.

Bulletin details

This Closure Plan Amendment identifies closure concepts for the Aunor-Delnite site. A few of the proposed updates to the closure concepts in this amendment include the following:

  1. Regrading the slopes of the Aunor A Tailings Management Area
  2. Locating local impacted soils to the Tailings Management Area
  3. Covering the Tailings Management Area with HDPE liner
