I’m supporting this proposal as a falconers friend who has enlightened me to all the conservation work her club does for falcons and hawks in North America. I was very ignorant to all the work that goes into the art of falconry before she filled me in. Read more

I have been a falconer for many years and believe this proposal will help new falconers coming in to the sport The proposal is similar to other provinces and states in the US which work out very well and I support the goshawk take. Read more

I have been an active falconer since 1991. Falconry has been for me a passion, as well as an excellent form of exercise. I fully support the proposal (ERO# 019-1806). This proposal will bring Ontario on line with many other provinces. Read more

I support both proposals regarding wild take of raptors without a draw as well as adding goshawks to the list of species available to falconers. Wild take of raptors as part of falconry is important to the hunting heritage of falconers in Ontario.

I agree with this proposal. There are great benefits to the economy to be gained through access to wild raptors by falconers. The knowledge they can gain from different species which can be used to increase their survival rates.

The use of wild raptors in Falconry in North America has long been known to have no impact on wild populations. In Great Britain the Goshawk was re-established after extirpation (caused by deforestation and shooting) by escaped and released falconry flown goshawks. Read more

The Ontario Hawking Club has made great efforts to monitor Goshawk populations using the knowledge they have acquired with working with these incredible birds. I fully support this proposal and look forward to additional projects the club will dedicate themselves to.

I support Ontario falconers and the MNR in this proposal because nothing brought me more joy than seeing my wife enjoy the outdoors with her wild trapped red-tail Hawk a few years back. She hasn’t been successful the past few draws and in order to fly a merlin she needs a permit. Read more

Ontario should permit the wild take of raptors for falconry purposes. Many biological studies have already been done over many years supporting this position as up to 80% of first year raptors do not survive to their first moult. Read more
