Why consultation isn't required
On April 1, 2020, the Ontario Government made a temporary regulation to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak. Ontario Regulation 115/20 exempts all proposals for policies, acts, regulations and instruments from posting requirements under the EBR until 30 days after the declared emergency is terminated.
Proposal details
This proposal is for an amendment to the existing Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) No. A210338 (Waste Disposal Site) for the following:
The use and operation of a waste disposal site with a total site area of 0.55 hectares, to be used for the transfer of solid non-hazardous waste and processing of recyclable materials. A maximum of 600 tonnes per day of waste can be received on site. The maximum amount of waste stored and/or present at the site shall not exceed 300 tonnes at any time. The total amount of waste leaving the site for final disposal shall not exceed 300 tonnes per week.
This proposal is to amend condition 14.a. to allow non-hazardous municipal waste to be accepted at the transfer/processing facility for the purpose of processing and transfer. The site accepts waste 24 hours a day from Monday through Saturday and operates in accordance with the City of Mississauga Noise Control By-law #360-79 as amended, and the debris and anti-littering by-law #219-85 as amended. The site is to service the Province of Ontario.
