Why consultation isn't required

Bulletin details
On July 22, 2020, we amended Renewable Energy Approval No. 8430-9AEQ6M to include a storage building as part of the facility.
Since the Long Lake Solar Project started operating in 2015, Northland Power Solar Long Lake L.P. has identified a need for a storage building that was not considered during the development of the project.
Heavy snow accumulation on the solar panels during the winter has significant negative impact on the solar facility’s production levels, and as a result, Northland Power has had to use mechanical snow removal equipment at the facility to mitigate impacts to performance.
Northland Power wants to construct a storage building to house the snow removal equipment. The building will be of steel construction with a concrete slab base and will be located in a previously disturbed area of the site in close proximity to the existing maintenance building. All of the details regarding this minor project change are included in the Modification Document posted on the company’s website.
Re-confirmation letters from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries are not required because the change did not result in relocating any project components beyond the project location that was already assessed.
