The Director of Exploration has made a decision on the exploration permit application PR-20-000133 to Bounty Gold Corp. for early exploration located approximately 85 kilometres northeast of Wabasukang First Nation, Ontario, in Belanger, Knott, Bowerman and Mitchell Townships, District of Kenora, North West Region.

Why consultation isn't required

On April 1, 2020, the Ontario Government made a temporary regulation to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak. Ontario Regulation 115/20 exempts all proposals for policies, acts, regulations and instruments from posting requirements under the EBR until 30 days after the declared emergency is terminated.

Although consultation was not required, the ministry did consult with the public on this proposal by posting ERO# 019-1844 for public comment May 29, 2020 to June 28, 2020 To ensure transparency, the ministry is providing details of its decision and the effects of consultation on decision-making in this notice.

Bulletin details

Instrument decision details:

On June 30, 2020 the ministry issued an exploration permit located approximately PR-20-000133 to Bounty Gold Corp. for early exploration located approximately 85 kilometres northeast of Wabasukang First Nation, Ontario, in Belanger, Knott, Bowerman and Mitchell Townships, District of Kenora, North West Region.

The exploration permit was issued once all Indigenous communities and the public had the opportunity to provide comment or raise their concerns. The issued exploration permit is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue.

This permit will allow the Bounty Gold Corp., to undertake these early exploration activities:

  • mechanized Drilling (Assembled Weight greater than 150kg)
  • mechanized Stripping (greater than 100m2 in 200 metre radius)
  • pitting and Trenching of Bedrock (greater than 3m3 in 200 metre radius)
  • line Cutting (greater than 1.5m width)

The mining activities are located approximately 85 kilometres northeast of Wabasukang First Nation, Ontario, in Belanger, Knott, Bowerman and Mitchell Townships, District of Kenora, North West Region.

Third parties are not able to apply for leave to appeal in respect of proposals which are posted while Ontario Regulation 115/20 is in effect.

On April 1, 2020, the Ontario Government made a temporary regulation to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak which exempts all proposals from the requirement to post notices on the ERO. Leave to appeal may only be sought in respect of instruments that are required to be posted to the ERO.
