Bulletin summary

On July 10, 2020 the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O.Reg.) 362/20 to facilitate the development of mixed-use, residential and commercial development in the Town of Caledon. The Minister’s Zoning Order was made based on a request from the Town of Caledon.

Why consultation isn't required

Part II of the Environmental Bill of Rights Act, 1993 does not apply to a proposal to make a Zoning Order under subsection 47(1) of the Planning Act, or to amend or revoke a Zoning Order under subsection 47(8) of the Planning Act.

Bulletin details

A Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, regulates the use of land and the erection, location and use of any building or structure on the land.

O.Reg. 362/20 facilitates the development of townhouses, mixed-use residential/commercial uses and associated stormwater management facilities. 

The area covered by O.Reg. 362/20 is approximately 101 hectares of land, located in the community of Mayfield West in the Town of Caledon.

Pursuant to subsection 47(4) of the Planning Act, and except for the purposes of section 24, the Minister deemed O.Reg. 362/20 to be and to always have been a by-law passed by the Council of the Town of Caledon.
