If you look at "management requirements" you will see that producers are required to meet a very low percentage of recovery for plastic (lower than for any of the other materials) Plastic recovery should be a priority! Read more

We are manufacturer of plastic closures in Ontario, made from PP. It would be very nice to have a uniform rule for the user of the Blue box to keep the lid / closure / cap on the container, so it can be recycled. Read more

I'm concerned about the impact of this new program on consumers. How will they be protected from excessive price increases to "recoup costs"? What additional work will they have to do - more sorting/separating, managing additional boxes, etc? Read more

I applaud the government for trying to change our recycling but I do have some concerns. One is that I have heard that some of the things I recycle in Sarnia, end up in landfill anyways as there are no processing plants or convenient plants to recycle them in. Read more

Something needs to be done about the design of the blue box. When it's a windy day blue boxes tip over and everything flies out. Tired of picking up peoples recycling and what about the stuff that is not picked up, kinda defeats its purpose.

I work in Markham for 25 years, and I live in Markham for 20 years. I always support the City's recycling programs and green initiatives. This new proposal is another huge step forward. I totally support. Thank you.

I believe Condominiums should be forced to do recycling regarding their compost. At present time residents either separate compost which still goes into garbage or they simply do not compost at all. This would probably be second in magnitude when comparing to your proposal.

We are a small natural soap manufacturer in Ontario. We choose packaging that is readily recyclable in many jurisdictions (clear PET only and HDPE). We chose plastic bottles and pumps for our liquid soap so it can be refilled infinitely; we offer a number of packaging efficient refill sizes. Read more
