While assessing the risk of natural hazards should be a more important part of the planning process, Conservation authorities should not be focused on it to the detriment of the other areas the look at, which are also important and should remain within the scope of their assessments.

If we knew a housing crisis was “decades in the making” then why didn’t you plan sooner? I understand there is a need for housing but there have to be better places to build on. The greenbelt alone. Let the CA’s do their jobs.

This proposal, as I understand it, removes the authority of Conservation Authorities to protect ecological function and potentially long-term sustainability and viability of wetlands by removing CA power to regulate and refuse permits based on "pollution or the conservation of land". Read more

I believe the bill is detrimental to our society and our province. We need this protected land to help mitigate floods, protect our wildlife, and reduce our carbon footprint. This bill also guts our conservation authorities which isn't a forward thinking plan. Read more

I can't in good conscience agree with this bill. There are so many other cheaper ways to provide living spaces for people who need it. This housing bill will destroy protected lands and only serve a few rich people. I do not agree with this bill.

This is too rushed and municipalities need time to determine the costs of this. Municipalities should also not bear all the responsibility of all assessments. We need the input of the conservation authority and of residents. Yes, we need more housing but not like this. Read more
