2021 Prescribed Burns

Our Prescribed Burning Operations Policy and Manual set out guidelines for planning and conducting prescribed burns in Ontario. For each prescribed burn, an operational plan is prepared in accordance with the complexity of the burn.

Each plan includes the following information:

• statement of the objectives to be achieved
• burn prescription that will meet the objectives
• list of all areas of concern
• description of the methods used to give notice to the public
• description of ignition, suppression, safety and support measures
• outline of the requirements for a post-burn analysis
