Proposal details
This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval for 2771138 Ontario Inc. for the use and operation of a waste transfer and processing facility located at 6191 Atlantic Drive in the City of Mississauga, Ontario.
The site is approximately 2.52 acres in area, and will be used to receive solid and wet, non-hazardous soil and soil containing construction and demolition debris originating in the Province of Ontario.
Activities at the site will include:
- the unloading and loading of trucks of soil and debris
- screening of all soils to remove debris
- the transferring of soil and debris
The maximum amount of non-hazardous waste to be received at the site daily will be 4,000 tonnes, with a maximum on-site storage capacity of 20,527 tonnes of non-hazardous waste. All non-hazardous impacted soil will be stored within the current industrial building located on-site.
After processing (limited to bulking, homogenization, screening, mixing and blending) and testing, the soil will be shipped offsite. The site will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Consistent with Ontario’s Provincial Policy Statement 3.2.3 and Ontario Regulation 406/19, the goal of the facility is to promote beneficial reuse of excess soils and divert it from landfills in Ontario. Most, if not all of the wastes received at the facility will not be transferred for final disposal at a landfill.
