Original proposal
Proposal details
This proposal is for an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval no. 6207-698LV7 for EACOM Timber Corporation for the operation of a 2.8 hectares waste disposal area (footprint) within a total of 79.7-hectare property, to be used for the landfilling of wood waste (tree bark, wood residue, mill trimmings, and dirty hog fuel that has been tainted with dirt, rocks, or grit). The wood waste is generated as a result of the lumber manufacturing process at EACOM Timber Corporation Ear Falls Sawmill located at Part 1, Plan 23R-9716 in the Township of Ear Falls, Ontario.
The approved waste capacity of the landfill site is 52,626 cubic metres. The Site will operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The site services the Province of Ontario.
The approved amendment is to allow a small amount (10,000 cubic meters) of woodwaste material to be removed from the landfill site, so that it can be used in a pilot project to verify that it is suitable for use as organic capping material for mine waste rock and tailings areas, prior to vegetation with native plant and tree species. The 10,000 cubic meters removed from the landfill Site will be co-mingled with 5,000 cubic meters of fresh material, and trucked from the site to be used by Pure Gold Mining Inc.
