Proposal details
This proposal is to amend the Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 8020-A2TPFG for Geosyntec Consultants International, Inc. for their ex-situ reactor system used in the treatment of waste oils, sludge, and/or contaminated soils, located in the City of London, Ontario.
This proposal is to update the existing research soil treatment reactor to four new ex-situ smoldering combustion soil treatment systems.
The sources at the facility include:
- contaminated soil transfer and smoldering
- one existing soil vapour extraction (SVE) and vapour treatment system which includes:
- one vapour mist accumulator
- one turbulent flow precipitator mist accumulator
- two vapour phase granular activated carbon (GAC) filters
- one exhaust stack
- any other equipment and ancillary and support processes and activities
Contaminant emissions to the atmosphere include:
- benzene
- 1,3-butadiene
- hydrochloric acid
- methane
- products of combustion such as nitrogen oxides
