As a Quebecer I visited Alfred Bog years ago with a friend and loved it. I am dismayed to hear that now we might see murderous hunters and destructive all-terrain vehicles over-running the Bog. Read more

I applaud the decision to create Alfred Bog Provincial Park. Given the ecological importance and the fragility of bogs and considering that bogs take hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years to develop, we must ensure that they are preserved and protected. Read more

This has been a long time coming. I live across from the Alfred Bog and watching the peat moss farms draining the bog by creating large draining channels is alarming as it impacts the bog strongly. We need to protect the birds and other animals that live within the bog. Read more

Of course, we support the proposal of protecting the Alfred Bog through the creation of a Provincial Park. It is the largest peat bog in southern Ontario, and one of only three raised peat bogs remaining in the southern half of Ontario. Read more

As a life-long resident in this area I can attest to the natural beauty and the inspirational silence of this secluded place, still relatively far from traffic lanes (and unknown to most people). As an ecology conscious and concerned citizen I can only applaud this decision. Read more

J'appuie la démarche du gouvernement de faire du Bog d'Alfred un parc provincial afin de protéger sa faune et sa végétation sauvage. Quelle bonne idée! Merci!

I am very supportive of the Alfred Bog becoming a provincial park. It is important to protect it, as it is a wetland and we have very few wetlands left. I am also very supportive of the continued permission for responsible game hunting on the bog.

I fully support the proposed provincial park designation for the described portion of the Alfred Bog. It is an extremely important ecological habitat and landform in eastern Ontario. I also support hunting in the park, without the use of motorized vehicles (e.g. ATV’s).

Full support for protecting this ecologically important and sensitive area. The proposed boundary does not make much sense - the boundary should include all of the peatland for complete protection of the peatland and the water regime on which it depends.

I fully support the designation of Alfred Bog as a natural environment class provincial park with minimal facilities and services. The park should be managed so as to "maintain and/or restore the security of the bog's natural sources of water" (Mosquin  1991). Read more

I fully encourage the creation of the Alfred Bog Provincial Park even as a non-functioning provincial park. It is essential to preserve as much of these wetlands as possible. Read more

I think it is fantastic that Alfred Bog is being protected as a provincial park. However, the work does not and cannot end there. In order to protect the bog, any further drainage needs to be stopped, as well as any further removal of peat. Read more
