Decision details

A new Environmental Compliance Approval was granted to Hydro One Networks Inc. for modification of sewage works for the collection, transmission, treatment and disposal of stormwater at the Seaforth Transmission Station (TS) located at 79318 Hensall Road, in the Township of Tuckersmith, County of Huron, Ontario.

Approval granted at the Seaforth TS includes a station expansion of the north side in order to accommodate two new power transformers T11 and T12, which will be replacing the old power transformers T1 and T2. Another two old transformers T5 and T6 will be replaced with new transformers T7 and T8 close to their existing locations in the eastern area of the station.

The approved sewage works compromise of stormwater quality control and quantity control and include:

  • spill containment pits for the four new transformers ( T7, T8, T11 and T12)
  • two oil water separators (OWS-1, OWS-2)
  • a temporary inground OWS
  • manholes
  • catch basins
  • on-site storm sewers/ditches
  • a stormwater detention facility

All site storm drainage collected in the perimeter ditches will be discharged to a stormwater detention facility at the southwest corner of the property, which eventually flows to the Dill Municipal Drain and ultimately to Lake Huron.
