Decision details

A decision was made on December 12, 2023, to approve the City of Toronto Official Plan Amendment 591, adopted pursuant to sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act by By-law 1106-2022, without modification. Notice of Decision was issued on December 13, 2023, to the City of Toronto.

The adopted Official Plan Amendment was reviewed for consistency and conformity with provincial plans and policies and have regard for matters of provincial interests as outlined in the Planning Act.

Pursuant to subsections 17(36.5) and (38.1) of the Planning Act, this decision is final and not subject to appeal. Accordingly, Official Plan Amendment 591, as approved by the Minister, came into effect on December 13, 2023.

The new Official Plan Amendment 591 applies to all lands within the City of Toronto.

Proposal details

On July 22, 2022, the City of Toronto adopted Official Plan Amendment 591 pursuant to sections 26 and 17 of the Planning Act by By-law 1106-2022. This amendment is now before the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision under the Planning Act.

Official Plan Amendment 591 proposes new and updated policies and mapping related to employment, including 24 employment conversions. The amendment applies to Chapters 2-4, Chapters 6-7, Schedule 3, Map 2, Maps 13-23 and Maps 24-34 of the City of Toronto Official Plan.

If approved, some of the modifications introduced through the amendment will apply to the entirety of lands within the City of Toronto, and some to specific sites.
