Siltech Corporation - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for an Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise) which replaces all the current Environmental Compliance Approvals for Air at this facility and includes the addition of new or historically unapproved sources for all emissions from Siltech Corporation, a special chemical manufacturing facility, located at 1700 Pettit Road, Fort Erie, Ontario.

The application includes all sources at the facility, including material handling, 10 storage tanks, one cooling towers, 6 laboratory fume hoods, one steam boiler, and one hot oil heater, batch mixing, decanting, and stripping with emissions controlled by a caustic scrubbing unit.

The facility operates with a Facility Production Limit of 600, 000 kilograms per day of product. Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• vinyl cyclohexene monoxide,
• acetic anhydride,
• black copolymer of dimethylsiloxane,
• silicone solymer,
• S&S_ethoxylated,
• poly(dimethylsiloxane),
• allyl glycidyl ether,
• silicone copolymer epoxide,
• 1,1,3,3-Tetramethyldisiloxane,
• isopropyl alcohol,
• nitrogen oxides and other products of combustion.

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
