I strongly oppose this Bill. We have a housing crisis and a climate crisis and opening the wat for building on protected green belt land will not help address either of these issues. We need high density housing and wetland and habitat protection to fight against climate change. Read more

The current evaluation system works and keeps land critical to wildlife from being developed. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and the Conservation Authorities are well suited to evaluate and designate land as significant, please don’t fix what isn’t broken.

The rhetoric used to justify the proposed updates to the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System is disheartening. What does building more affordable housing have to do with protecting our precious freshwater wetlands? Wetlands are crucial to the survival of humans. Read more

Wetlands are more valuable to our existence than housing. It is irresponsible for the Government to allow development on these lands. Instead of sprawl continuing, we already have suitable areas for housing with infrastructures already in place. Intensification are solutions for the future. Read more
