I oppose this. It is an unreasonable usurpation of local municipal authority. It was not part of the election campaign of the current government, but instead is being sprung on people with essentially no opportunity to alter or reject it. Read more

Please, please don't remove the current protected status of the Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve. This land is a treasure for the people of Durham and for any Ontarians who can visit the area and it should be protected in perpetuity. Read more

I object to the proposal to revoke the Central Pickering Development Plan because it removes protections for the invaluable agricultural and natural heritage lands of the Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve in order to benefit developers. Read more

The green belt must be preserved at all costs. There will always be development pressures but costs of servicing thousands of acres and the long commutes they lead to is unsustainable. Intensification along European models is the way to go. Read more

In the rationale for this revocation, under "Current Implementation Status" it says "this plan has been successful". Why would a successful plan be thrown out? The plan is designed to preserve primary class 1 farmland that is essential for local food growth for our growing population. Read more

The easements placed on the lands within the DRAP (Duffin Rouge Agricultural Preserve) were intended to be in PERPETUITY. The Province of Ontario has only one preserve for Agriculture. The land is class 1 farmland and has a multitude of capabilities. Read more
