Dear Premier Ford, Get your greedy paws off our Greenbelt! This land is essential for climate control, flood control, and wildlife and plant habitat. If this land is not protected, we will all pay dearly for it in the end. Ontario's eco system demands protection of the Greenbelt. Read more

I am absolutely appalled that the government is proposing to build new homes in the PROTECTED Greenbelt. This is an incredibly important area of land and homes should not be built here. Nor should there be any development on this land, whatsoever. Read more

I am against this proposal. Ontario, Canada, and the world need essential protected green space and habitat. The planet is dying quickly, and we need to reverse the damage NOW. We should be protecting MORE ecosystem and developing less. Better to densify urban areas.

I am opposed to any removal of greenbelt lands to expand development, even with proposed additions. This is a misleading proposal, as the additional lands were already committed to prior to the proposed removals, and is being misrepresented as a fair trade. Read more

The GTA is also sorely lacking in greenspace and further removing what is already there will make this area even more depressing to live in. Yes this will not reduce greenbelt designated area but it will still reduce green space accessible for me and my family. Read more

This is a terrible idea. I understand that housing is a concern, but if we want to hav long term sustainability in our communities then we need to take into account groundwater, flood plains, terrain, farmland etc. There is a damn good reason these lands were protected in the first place. The proposal highlights primarily areas of natural heritage to be turned into housing developments on the outskirts of the GTA, however there is seemingly limitless opportunity for infill within the City of Toronto and in the focal areas of the surrounding cities. Read more

This is a short sighted and selfish proposal. The Greenbelt was originally set aside and protected as it is extremely ecologically sensitive and important land. Removing these essential sections of it would destroy much of its ecological value for short term gain. Read more
