I object to this -- the Greenbelt is a valuable environmental buffer against unconstrained sprawl. The natural environment is a place for people to play and relax, and eroding its boundaries will ruin its significance and protections for sensitive animal habitats.

Developing on the greenbelt is a shortsighted travesty. The irreversible decision to make more sprawl on our protected land will only continue to trash out our beautiful province. The Greenbelt is important and protected land that the government PROMISED to leave untouched. To suggest that the only way to fox the housing crisis is to sell protected land and supports every single one of our lives via biodiversity is absolutely ludicrous. Read more

This is a lazy, shortsighted proposal that is only a band-aid solution to a bigger problem. Taking away from the best most fertile farming land on earth, which we will need to feed ourselves in the future and have food security to build only 50 000 houses is undeniably a terrible idea. Read more

The greenbelt is a key area of the GTA. It is important for flooding control, it helps contain our urban sprawl and encourage density. Adding more housing in the greenbelt is only going to hurt the GTA: more sprawl, more traffic, less connection to nature. Read more
