As property owners on Kahshe Lake, we are firmly opposed to the use of floating accommodations. This would be a definite concern regarding our environment, waste disposal, shoreline, views, boat traffic, and site lines for existing homes and cottages.
I am against floating structures on our lakes. They will affect the lake view of cottagers with the structure. I pay property taxes based on the area my property encompasses.

1. They obstruct waterways from a safety perspective

It should be your top priority to minimize the rights removed from citizens as much as possible. Avoid any blanket regulations, and pick a top issue(s) and focus like a laser beam on that issue to only address the actual problems while not blanketing others into it.

This proposal will make many known safe sheltered from weather anchorages unavailable. By taking away these safe spots from boaters with the 300 meter distance restriction will jeopardize the safety of boaters.

I am an active recreational boater. From our base at a marina in Kingston my wife and I spend forty or fifty nights each season at anchor at numerous locations around eastern Lake Ontario and in the Thousand Islands.

This proposal is a violation of common law right of navigation.
As per Transport Canada: An anchorage is a suitable area in which to anchor a vessel. The right to anchor a vessel is part of the common law right of navigation. Vessels are free to anchor temporarily wherever it is safe.
There is some merit to the limitation of time spent at various anchorages, as there are some that do abuse the privileges that we enjoy. However, the suggestion of a 300metre exclusion area around “developed” coast is complete over reach!

As a property owner on the lakefront, I pay taxes and fees to use the lake. These units are disruptive and very dangerous on the lake. The amount of garbage and sewage is ridiculous. We don’t even have garbage services as a cottage owner so where do they put it (in the bush).

Hello - I would like to see further clarification in the document around how this may impact the recreational boaters of Ontario who are not 'houseboats' - I am referring to 'cruisers' (sail and powered), vessels that are equipped with overnight accommodation facilities.
