The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has received Official Plan Amendment No. 2 from the County of Dufferin for a decision.OPA No. 2 proposes to update the County’s population and employment figures to 2051 and implement the County’s Land Needs Assessment to conform with A Place to Grow: Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.

Official Plan Amendment No. 2 was adopted by Dufferin County Council on April 13th, 2023, by By-law No. 2023-25. The Official Plan Amendment is now before the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision in accordance with Sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act.
Official Plan Amendment No. 2 is Phase 1 of the County’s municipal comprehensive review.
Official Plan Amendment No. 2 proposes to implement the population and employment forecasts set out in Schedule 3 of A Place to Grow: Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe to the year 2051. Official Plan Amendment No. 2 also sets intensification targets and allocates land for residential, commercial and employment needs to the County’s lower tier municipalities in, keeping with the County’s Land Needs Assessment.
If approved, the population and employment forecasts and allocations of Official Plan Amendment No. 2 would apply across Dufferin County.
