This proposal is for an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 3294-AM2KKV with Limited Operational Flexibility for Magna International Inc., a manufacturer of steel and aluminum automotive frames, frame components and structural components, located in the City of St. Thomas, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that exhaust to the air include:

  • receiving
  • hot stamping
  • hydroforming
  • roll mill
  • spot/projection/MIG welding
  • coating
  • shipping

The amendment includes:

  • updates to current production limits
  • the addition of new scrubbers
  • other modifications to the equipment at the facility

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

  • manganese
  • nitrogen oxides
  • iron oxides
  • chromium VI
  • aluminum oxides
  • particulate matter
  • silicon
  • nickel

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air).

The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
