Proposal details
This proposal is for an Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise) which replaces all the current Environmental Compliance Approvals for Air at this facility and includes the addition of new, or historically unapproved, sources for all emissions from Imperial Oil Limited, a refinery for crude oil to produce propane and propylene, butane, gasolines, furnace fuel, diesel oil, aviation fuel, heavy fuel oil, and asphalt, located at 225 Concession 2, Nanticoke, Ontario.
The application includes all sources at the facility, including:
- laboratory fume hoods
- material handling
- storage tanks
- Catalytic cracking
- flares
- cooling towers
The facility operates with a facility production limit of 20,000 cubic meters a day of crude oil.
Emissions to the air from this facility include:
- trimethylbenzene
- 1,3 butadiene arsenic and compounds
- beryllium and beryllium compounds
- cobalt
- suspended particulate matter
- sulfur dioxide
- toluene
- xylenes
- hexane
- total reduced sulphur (TRS) compounds
- ethyl benzene
- naphthalene
- nitrogen oxides
The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air).
The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
