Bulletin summary

Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. has submitted an amendment for the Macassa Mine Complex site, for filing by the Ministry of Mines (MINES), as required under the Mining Act, R.S.O., Chapter M14.

The objective of this Closure Plan Amendment (CPA) is to present a decommissioning strategy that reflects current site conditions.

Why consultation isn't required

Closure Plan amendments are not required to be posted for public comment.

Bulletin details

The amendment reflects changes associated with the company’s mining properties, since the previous Closure Plan amendment was filed with the Ministry in 2023. Specifically, the change proposed in this Closure Plan amendment is an increase in the quantity of tailings to be stored in the North Tailings Storage Facility (NTSF) feature of the site and a change to the elevations of the dams 3 and 4 of the NTSF.
