Proposal details

This proposal is for an amendment to the Limited Operational Flexibility for an Environmental Compliance Approval No. 1160-9H4KLS for Kubota Materials Canada Corporation, a foundry facility manufacturing steel alloy castings and custom-designed steel assemblies, located in the City of Orillia, Ontario. The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include metal melting, metal pouring and cooling, coremaking, sand reclamation, cleaning/finishing, and laboratory analysis.

The amendment includes renewing the Limited Operational Flexibility, adding the registration for particulate type contaminants in the Foundries Industry Standard, removing the potassium titanate fibres (TXAX) operations, and to reflect their current operations.

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

  • isopropanol
  • fluorides
  • nitrogen oxides
  • noise and more.

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
