An amendment Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) was granted to Southshore Greenhouses Inc. and Mucci Farms Ltd. for the amendment and consolidation of ECA numbers 3622-CJ44K5, 4487-CHR53P and 7750-CJ44YE for the expansion and modification of an existing stormwater management system in catchment area three.

The site locations are:

  • site #1 - Southshore Greenhouses Inc., 1670 Seacliff Drive (newly consolidated); and
  • site #2 - Mucci Farms Ltd., 1717 Road 2 East, both in the Town of Kingsville, County of Essex, Ontario

There are two existing stormwater management systems located each located at catchment areas one and two of site #1.

The approved modified and expanded stormwater management systems are serving catchment area three (37.04 hectares) located on both site #1 and site #2, and consist of the following:

  1. roof water drainage pipe systems, an oil/grit separator, swales and on-site storm sewers
  2. one stormwater management pond having an active storage volume of 22,439 cubic metres with a maximum active water depth of 3.658 metres for the 1:100 year storm event, discharging, via outlet pipes and a pumping station, a maximum total release rate of 383 litres per second into the West Natural Watercourse (172 litres per second) and the 2nd Concession Branch of the Esseltine Drain (211 litres per second), including emergency overflow spillway
  3. stormwater drainage system including surface ponding storage and one oil/grit separator, serving the warehouse parking areas

This proposal from Southshore Greenhouses Inc. and Mucci Farms Ltd. is to amend Environmental Compliance Approval numbers 3622-CJ44K5, 4487-CHR53P and 7750-CJ44YE for new stormwater management facilities and modifications to an existing S.W.M. pond to accommodate the new greenhouse expansion and existing greenhouse ranges for collection, transmission, treatment and disposal of stormwater run-off from the lands located at 1670 Seacliff Drive East, and 1717 Road 2 East, in the Town of Kingsville, County of Essex, Ontario.

The stormwater management works consist of the following:

  1. Roof water drainage pipe systems, swales and on-site storm sewers, discharging roof top runoff and other surface runoff to the shared stormwater detention pond;
  2. One stormwater management detention/wet pond having an active storage volume of 22,439 cubic metres with a maximum active water depth of 3.718 metres for the 1:100 year storm event, discharging a maximum (total) release rate of 383 litres per second into the Ravine (172 litres per second) and the 2nd Concession Branch of the Esseltine Drain (211 litres per second);
  3. One stormwater dewatering pump station located near the southwest corner of the pond;
  4. One emergency overflow spillway directing flows to the west natural watercourse; and
  5. One Oil Grit Separator (OGS) model FD-4HC or approved equal, serving the warehouse parking areas
